Stone Road Mall is successful in maintaining and improving its waste reduction and recycling initiatives. The mall’s Waste Management Minimization and Recycling Program is an all-inclusive program which encompasses equipment, training, signage and communications to promote knowledge, awareness and education in order to encourage the daily, active participation of tenants, cleaners and staff.

The 3R’s Program has had an enormous impact on the reduction of waste generated at Stone Road Mall. Since its launch, the mall has increased diversion levels, met and exceeded regulatory requirements and contributed to a healthier environment. The management and staff are proud of Stone Road Mall’s Waste Minimization and Recycling Initiatives and strive for continual improvement in their 3R’s Performance.

With the combined efforts of tenants and management, Stone Road Mall is consistently decreasing the volume of waste generated on site. Over the past 3 years, the diversion rate has steadily increased from 36.2% to 39% to 41%, reducing the amount of solid waste going to landfills. Stone Road Mall also continues to manage waste disposal costs, resulting in cost efficiencies.

Stone Road Mall is committed to environmental protection through a number of their programs. The operations of these innovative programs position Stone Road Mall as a leader in the facilities Management Industry and in Ontario. It is very deserving that Stone Road Mall has been a recipient of the Bronze Medal from the RCO Waste Minimization Award for Facility Management in both 2008 and 2009. The distinction of receiving this prestigious award further acknowledges the great contributions and initiatives by mall management, staff, tenants and shoppers and provides encouragement for everyone to continue with best environmental practices.
